Against a background of high competitive pressure, marked in particular by the growth of bancassurers, as well as the new requirements of policy-holders and increasing statutory constraints, the need for cooperation among mutual insurance companies has become vital. To continue to gain market share, while maintaining their values, they must cooperate in order to reach critical mass, and thereby succeed in doing more while spending less. Sharing the same philosophy and the same analysis of the means required to meet these challenges, the four mutual insurance groups MAAF, MMA, AZUR et GMF have created the leader in property and liability insurance in France with the first Mutual Insurance Group Company, the Covéa SGAM. Its aim is to ensure the development and permanence of its 3 brands, GMF, MAAF et MMA (AZUR having merged with MMA in 2006).
